I like the idea of using cardboard boxes around the set in order to represent "poverty". Also seeing as the cast are always going to be on stage, those in the background could possibly be constructing their homes using cardboard boxes, sleeping bags and various materials? Just an idea :)

Logos
After having a chat with Alison on Friday, we discussing the idea bout this version of GPOS being in an unknown place, yet very modern and known. We liked the idea of incorporating famous worldwide logos such as McDonalds, Coca Cola etc. We could have them as hanging signs that light up, which came to mind after I saw Katie's post on pinterest about the red light district (see image below). We could also use silhouettes like the one below perhaps?
Steel deck
I want to have different layers in my design and have thought of various ways i can do this. I want to use steel deck as a platforms that actors can stand on top of but also use the area underneath it, perhaps to represent a bridge in some scenes (such as the prologue when Wong is waiting for the God to appear) ? I was looking at the different styles of bridges and I like the idea of using the steel deck but not actually hiding the fact it is steel deck. This is what the sort of thing I mean:
